If they can get your money by promising fast weight loss results using methods that compromise your health they&#8217;ll do it. So&#8230;BUYER BEWARE!</p>
<p class="style1">2. Not Drastic</p>
<p>By drastic I mean the starvation diets, the super low carbohydrate diets, or the ultra restricted calorie diets. Put simply, your body works better and healthier with a proper intake of nutrition, carbohydrates included.</p>
<p>Did you know that your body stops burning fat the moment it&#8217;s self-preservation mechanism is triggered? The thyroid gland in your neck has been programmed to recognize when the body is being starved and will virtually shut down the burning of fat to protect itself.</p>
<p>Therefore, starvation style weight loss measures are doomed to failure because your body won&#8217;t allow it.</p>
<p class="style1">3. Easy to Understand</p>
<p>If you need a degree in nutrition science to understand a diet plan then it&#8217;s too complicated.</p>
<p>Diet programs should be clearly written in everyday language that average people use. Any high-caliber words that the author uses should be defined the first time used and included in a glossary in the back of the book.</p>
<p>If the diet instructions are confusing and too technical then dump that diet plan.</p>

<p>The diet plan you choose should be easy to maintain for long periods of time, like months, if not years. </p>
<p>It should be oriented towards long-term lifestyle changes. Once the lifestyle changes are implemented the diet plan should become so much a part of your life it can be followed instinctively.</p>
<p>I hate the two week diet plans that resemble Marine boot camp hell week. You shouldn&#8217;t be expected to muster up super human determination to maintain them.</p>
<p class="style1">6. Enjoyable</p>
<p>Yes, enjoyable. If you hate the diet program you&#8217;re on you won&#8217;t last long enough to achieve positive results.</p>
<p>The food menu choices should look and taste good and the exercise recommendations should be doable. </p>
<p>Think about it, how often will you eat cardboard flavored glop or scream for mercy attempting to perform agonizing exercises before quitting?</p>
<p class="style1">Conclusion</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t be seduced by diet plans that promise instant massive weight loss results, with either no work expected on your part, or dangerous health threatening ideas on the plans part.</p>
<p> If the diet plan promotes long term health over short term results, isn&#8217;t drastic, is easy to understand, follow, and maintain, then it&#8217;s probably worth your while to try out.</p>

<p>Exercise is an important part of our lives.  </p>
<p>Staying in shape is one way to increase your life expectancy. Weight bearing exercises are important for increasing muscle mass and bone density as you age.</p>
<p>Most of us have learned what to do when it comes to exercising. The problem is where and when to get the job done. With a busy lifestyle, making time for exercise is a challenge.</p>
<p>Weight bearing exercises aren&#8217;t just for bodybuilders. As you age, especially once you hit the age of forty, you begin to lose muscle mass. For women especially, bone loss becomes a problem.  When the body is in need of calcium it starts robbing it from your bones. Building muscle not only increases their mass but your strength as well.</p>
<p>Here are five toning exercises that can be done anywhere and whenever you have time.   You can do these extremely effective body toning exercises at home, at the office, or on vacation.</p>
<p><span class="style4 style2">1. The Bridge Butt Lift</span> &#8211; Sounds like a plastic surgery technique but it&#8217;s an easy way to tone your buttocks.  Lay down with feet flat on the floor and legs shoulder width apart. Place your hands, palms down, on either side of your body. Pushing with your feet, squeeze your gluteal muscles and lift your butt off the floor. Hold the position for a count of five to ten and release back down to the floor.</p>
<p><span class="style4 style2">2. Squats</span> &#8211; Squats work the butt, the hamstring muscles and the quadriceps. If you aren&#8217;t sure of proper form, you can use a chair. Stand with feet shoulder width apart and feet firmly planted. Push your butt back as if you were preparing to sit in a chair. Keep your abs tight and your upper body straight. Once you reach chair level stop and hold the position for a count of two to five and release. At the lowest point, place all of your weight on your heels for balance and maximum toning.</p>
<p><span class="style4 style2">3. Reverse Lunges</span> &#8211; Lunges work the quadriceps muscles. Regular lunges can be hard for people with knee problems. A reverse lunge still tones the right muscle groups but with less pressure on the knee. Stand with feet together and arms at your sides. Take one leg and move it backwards until you are in lunge position: front leg bent at a 90 degree angle and back leg extended until you are on the ball of your foot.  From this position lower yourself down until the back knee almost touches the floor. Hold for a count of two and return to starting position.</p>
<p><span class="style4 style2">4. Pushups</span> &#8211; This is a classic toning exercise that works all areas of the arms plus the chest muscles.  If you aren&#8217;t comfortable or strong enough to perform a pushup on your toes, lower your body to your knees.  Be sure your arms are tucked into the body and your back straight as you lower and lift your body.</p>

Lying on the floor in sit up position, lace your fingers behind your head. Squeezing your abdominal muscles, lift your upper body until your lower back is about to come off the floor. Hold for two to five counts and return to starting position.</p>
<p>These five exercise moves can be done whenever you have time. The best thing about exercise is that its effects are cumulative. Even five or ten minutes at a time will work to your advantage.</p>

<p>I work with a woman who needs back surgery, she&#8217;s in her late sixties and needs to lose at least 50 pounds before the doctor will perform the operation. Considering the fact that she has a hard time walking she&#8217;s probably thinking that the doctor might as well have told her to climb Mount Everest.</p>
<p class="style5">It depends on how many bad eating habits you have to break. </p>

<p>A common complaint I&#8217;ve heard from people trying to lose weight is, &#8220;Exercising is sooo inconvenient. I just can&#8217;t get to the gym often enough to make it worth my while.&#8221;</p>
<p>I totally understand. Exercising at a gym IS inconvenient. Once upon a time I was in the same boat until I decided to stop going to a gym and started working out at home instead. I haven&#8217;t looked back since.</p>
<p>Great weight loss workout programs can be created right in your basement or extra room with minimal equipment. You can produce high intensity fat burning workouts that will be as good as and sometimes better than one&#8217;s you can do at a gym and for a fraction of the cost.</p>
<p class="style5">A home gym can be outfitted with basic exercise equipment for less than the cost of six months of gym fees. Here&#8217;s what I have.</p>

<p>If you are pressed for time and can&#8217;t make it to the gym then perform this simple workout routine in your home. If you perform this routine fast and hard, without a lot of time between exercises, you will be able to burn some fat off your body.</p>
<p class="style5">Pushups to Strengthen Your Chest Muscles</p>
<p>With your pushup handles, do as many regular pushups as you can. When you can&#8217;t perform any more allow your knees to touch the floor so you can do five more. Rest 60 to 90 seconds and then do another set. Rest 60 to 90 seconds and do a third set.</p>
<p><span class="style5">Note:</span> If you can&#8217;t do a normal pushup then do the easier knee pushups until you are strong enough to do regular pushups.</p>
<p class="style5">Chair Dips to Strengthen Your Triceps</p>
<p>You can use a sturdy kitchen chair if you don&#8217;t have a workout bench to perform this exercise. </p>
<p>Sit down on the chair like normal, then grasp the chair by the sides and slide your butt forward until it&#8217;s off the chair and you are supporting your bodyweight with your arms and legs. Walk your feet forward a couple of small steps until your toes are pointing in the air and just your heels are touching the floor. </p>
<p>Lower you butt toward the floor eight to ten inches focusing your attention on your triceps. Perform 3 sets with 60 to 90 seconds between sets.</p>
<p class="style5">Dumbbell Rows to Strengthen Your Back</p>
<p>There are two ways you can perform dumbbell rows, one arm at a time with heavy dumbbells, or both arms simultaneously with lighter dumbbells.</p>
<p>Your choice may be decided by the condition or your back. If I had a bad back I would choose the one arm version. If I had a good back I would alternate between versions from workout to workout.</p>
<p class="style5">Dumbbell Lunges to Strengthen Your Legs</p>
<p>Hold the dumbbells at your side and step forward with one foot. Bend down until your knee almost touches the floor. You can either perform this exercise with the same leg for ten to twelve reps or you can alternate your legs.</p>
<p class="style5">Stability Ball Abdominal Crunches for Your Stomach Muscles</p>
<p>Sit down on your stability ball and slowly walk forward until only your upper back is supported by the ball. Interlace your fingers behind your head and slightly arch your spine. Focus on your stomach muscles. You should feel them contract. </p>

<p>Perform 3 sets of 20 to 25 crunches with 60 to 90 second rest periods between sets.</p>
<p>You can perform this workout program different than I explained it. Instead of doing three sets of each exercise before moving to the next exercise you can do them in a circuit. </p>
<p>Perform one exercise, rest for 60 seconds, then perform the next exercise in the series. Go through the circuit three times and you&#8217;re done!</p>

<p>According to statistics there are over 50,000 diet books on the market. 50,000! Many of them are inherently unsafe. Their main flaw is that they are nutritionally out of balance, they recommend too much of one kind of food and not enough of the others. </p>
